Conservation Operative 

​

1 year fixed term contract, full time (40 hours per week + occasional overtime)

Salary: £25,750 per annum

Location: Huddersfield (with travel to sites across the UK)

For our Conservation Operative role we are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our dedicated team in the nature conservation sector. As a Conservation Operative, you'll work as part of our northern team delivering a variety of conservation projects. This is a hands-on role requiring physical fitness, attention to detail, and a commitment to health and safety.

Role specification
​
  • 40 hours + occasional overtime. 

  • Carry out day to day conservation land management activities on various habitat sites.

  • Adhere to all site health and safety requirements including risk assessments as directed by site supervisors.

  • Ensure your own personal health and safety as well as that of other members of staff and members of the public.

  • Work along side supervisors and contracts managers to ensure practical works are delivered on time and to a high standard.

Essential elements
​
  • Experience of working outdoors and carrying out practical works.

  • Some experience of working in the conservation sector (through a degree, work placement or volunteering).

  • Physically fit and comfortable working in all weather conditions.

  • A self- motivated team player with a strong work ethic.

  • Full UK driving licence and own a vehicle.

  • Ability to work away on occasion.

Desirables skills
​
  • Chainsaw experience with maintenance, cross cutting & felling up to 380mm ticket

  • Pesticide spraying  with hand held applicators on land & near water (PA1 & PA6AW)

  • Brushcutter ticket

  • Plant and machinery experience

  • First aid +F
