Vegetation and Invasive Species Control

Vegetation management and INNS control

Our expertise in vegetation and invasive non-native species management include both manual and mechanical operations with low ground pressure mechanised clearance for larger more accessible clearance works. We also conduct chemical treatment including knapsack spraying and can advise on alternative methods of regrowth control if you favour an alternative approach. Our services are designed to restore ecological balance and support biodiversity.

Mechanical vegetation management

We utilise a range of equipment and techniques to control overgrown or unwanted vegetation. From bramble clearance to tree and scrub removal or bracken mulching, our team will ensure minimal disruption to the surrounding landscape and meet all ecological regulations.

Our services include:

  • Brash removal for site clearance or woodland management

  • Scrub and vegetation management for peatland, roadsides and woodlands

  • Motor manual chainsaw and clearing saw scrub control

  • Flail mowing grassland for habitat management using our remote controlled LV500 Green Climber

  • Mulching of Bracken, Bramble, Molinia, or Heather with our remote controlled low ground pressure LV500 Green Climber mulcher

  • Clearance with FECON and Bobcat mounted mulch heads

Invasive non-native species control

As invasive species pose a dangerous threat to our native landscapes, we offer management with a targeted approach for species such as Rhododendron, Japanese Knotweed, Giant Hogweed and Himalayan Balsam. ELMS combines chemical and manual or mechanical approaches to tailor work to specific sites and species ensuring long term effectiveness.

Our services include:

  • Chemical treatment including knapsack spraying by traiined operatives to ensure effective control with minimal environmental impact

  • Mulching of Himalayan Balsam with our remote controlled LV500 Green Climber to eradicate growth below the second node. Ideal for steep, sensitive or difficult to access terrain.

  • Our staff are trained to operate safely in aquatic environments to treat invasive species along watercourses via river wading and boat side spraying.

  • Alternative methods of regrowth control if you favour an alternative approach to chemical treatment.

Our services include:

  • Native tree and shrub planting

  • Riparian buffer planting

  • Understory planting, seeding and ongoing maintenance

  • Hedgerow planting

  • Working on sensitive sites such as NNR's, SSSI's and SAC's

  • Wildflower meadow creation to create species rich grasslands for pollinators
